sometimes i look at my hands. and i think of my mother’s hands. and my grandmother’s. and i know but can’t understand that my hands will wilt, too. they’ll wrinkle and become paper thin and maybe the joints will stick out like my grandmother’s or bleed like my grandfather’s and then i start breathing fast and i can’t -
i’m scared.
i don’t want to die but i feel the weight of every single day passing. i feel like my back might break under all the heaviness.
five years ago i would have welcomed death with open arms - i even tried to beckon it closer once or twice.
now i run from it screaming. or i hide. and i hold my hands together and i beg… and my fingers aren’t bleeding they aren’t broken but they’re shaking.
